My first tattoo! I got it because I always wanted my tattoo to have something to do with music. This one is a Hilary Duff song. She was my idol growing up. Also, because the song is about taking chances and risks, and living for yourself so you don’t mold into someone you’re not. As I just started college, I thought this was also appropriate! This is my Charlie Chaplin hat. Charlie Chaplin has always been a big inspiration for me. He seemed like such a lighthearted man and he wasn’t afraid to say the things he needed to say and express himself through his art. His song “Smile” helped me survive my battle with depression and a bunch of shit that has happened to me recently. When I slip into that dark place, I just kind of hum the song to myself and I can put a smile on and breathe and just work through it. It gives me the courage to keep fighting. This is just a small reminder of the things I’ve been through and the fact that I’ve survived it all… especially this past year.
I got two done today and both of them were done by Makua at Electric Paradise in Waikiki. They’re really clean and really really nice. It was my first time getting a tattoo and I got two. Makua was really nice and he talked me through the whole thing. I was scared and he just calmed my nerves. It wasn’t as bad as I had made it out to be in my head and I had a great experience so I really recommend going there if you live on O’ahu. It’s worth the price.
